Ellis Hanes, 87, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Pastor Sean Galloway officiating.

Ellis was born February 27, 1937 in Keyes, Oklahoma to Ward and Lillian Hanes. He graduated from Plainview High School in Plainview, Oklahoma. He went on to attend Panhandle State University in Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Gibson on November 15, 1957. Ellis had a diverse career, working for John Deere for 15 years, US Motors for nine years, and owning and operating a cab business for 16 years, before retiring in 1999.

After retirement, he and Phyllis enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. For 13 years. They visited all 48 states in the union, and were shuffleboard champions in Arizona. Ellis spent time doing diamond dot art pieces, as well as latch hook pieces. He found enjoyment working in his flower garden. He was a family man, and loved his family very much. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jewel Wells and Ruby Wilson; and two brothers, Huston Hanes and Ward Green Hanes.

Survivors include his loving wife, Phyllis Hanes; three daughters, Darlenea Robertson and husband Kyle, Donna Hanes Hartlaub and husband Timothy, and Deanna Moore and husband Kirk; a son, Mike Hanes; a sister, Opal Burton and husband Wendell; eight grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
