Amarillo

Elva Hernandez, 80, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Private Family Services are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Elva was born July 18, 1945 in Taft, Texas to Daniel and Lionor Aleman. She grew up in the Lubbock and Littlefield area. She married the love of her life, Paulos Hernandez on July 12, 1969. They have enjoyed 56 years of marriage together and raised three daughters.

Elva made her career with the Texas Attorney General’s Office as a child support officer, first in Lubbock and then in Amarillo. Elva’s love and dedication to her family was made apparent when her two oldest daughters were attending WTAMU in 1998, and she made the decision to move the rest of the family to Amarillo to be close to them.

Elva adored her grandchildren and loved attending their games and events. She was strong in her faith and attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, estate sales, and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful cook, quick-witted, and had a very generous heart. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Daniel Aleman, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Paulos Hernandez; Monica Aust and husband Clint, Melissa Hernandez and fiancé Daniel Gleaves, and Miranda Blankenship and husband Danny all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Rylee, Robert, Lincoln, Tre, Israel and Sophie; a sister, Carmen Frias; and three brothers, Joe Aleman and wife Theresa, John Aleman and wife Lori, and Bill Ramirez.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Ussery-Roan Texas Veteran’s Home, 1020 Tascosa Rd. Amarillo, TX 79124.
