Emily Katherine (Flint) Boyd

Emily Katherine, 84, of Amarillo passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023 at her home. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday November 2, 2023 at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S Hayes. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Emily was born on November 17, 1938 in Carlsbad, NM but lived most of her life in Amarillo. She was a graduate of Amarillo High in 1956, and a graduate of Colorado College in 1960 where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity.  She was proud to say “Once a Sandie Always a Sandie”, and spoke very fondly of her time at Colorado College as well.  Emily was also a very passionate board member in the Amarillo High 50th Alumni Association.

Emily's legacy will live on through the love she gave her family, and the countless friends she touched.  A woman with a fondness for the color pink, Emily had a vibrant personality that reflected in the way she lived her life.  Emily was a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

“Mamaw” as she was known, told her family of her dream where she would be 50 forever.  In her dream she is going to build a house on the outskirts of town, but not too far because she still likes to shop.  The house will have room for all her family, and will have enough land for her animals.  She will have two baby burrows and three dogs: a Golden, a Frenchie, and a Cavalier.  Most importantly she is going to have a pickleball court where she and her friends will be able to play whenever they want, because, of course, they’ll be 50 not 84.   We know her dream has come true!

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie who she will be buried alongside.

Survivors include a son, Steve and wife Shannon of San Diego, CA; a son David of Amarillo; and four grandchildren Ryan Boyd, Trey Tindall, Abby Katherine Boyd, & Kasey Beth Boyd.
