Emma “Era” Williams, 101, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, with Bro. Bob Miller officiating.
Era was born April 25, 1923 in Claude, Texas to Thomas and Emma Baker, and grew up in a large family with 11 siblings. She married Jake Williams and together they raised three children, Lana, Tammy and James. Era dedicated her life to caring for her children. She was a devoted member of First Church of the Nazarene for many years. She worked for AISD for a brief time in the cafeteria.
Era was a funny lady who was full of life. She is known for the excellent pies she made. She was extremely talkative and loved people. Mostly, Era will be remembered as a very Godly woman. Her motto in life was: “The key to a long life is don’t cuss, don’t drink, and no smoking.” Era will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake Williams; two daughters, Lana Heronemus and Tammy Bailey; her son, James Williams; all her siblings; a grandson, Nathan Langham; and a great-grandson, Joshua Langham.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Julie Langham and Jason Heronemus, both of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Mia; and a special great-niece, Kilee Jackson and her son, Kash.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 5201 S. Soncy Rd., Amarillo, TX 79119.
