Erika G. Martinez

: Erika was born on November 30, 1932 in Berlin, Germany. While working as a nurse in the military, she met a handsome soldier by the name of Manuel Martinez. The two of them returned to the United States, where they were married on April 25, 1972 in Panhandle. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2015. Erika was a devoted wife, supporting her husband throughout his military career and moves. She worked for Levi Strauss of Amarillo for many years. Most of all, Erika loved her family. She was known to be blunt in how she felt and was a blast to be around at their many family cookouts and trips to the lake. She is survived by her daughter, Angie Lucero and husband Carlos; 2 sons, Manuel Medina Martinez, Jr. and Felix Benavidez, all of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren, Erika Rodriguez and husband Adolfo, Matthew Lucero and wife Destiney Micey and Anthony Martinez and wife Erika Arredondo, Ambryn, Britlyn and Ray Martinez; great grandchildren, Anthony Martinez, Jr, Ayla, Alyssa and Adolfo Rodriguez and Aleenah and Jaden Lucero; niece, Tina Nino and husband, Edward all of Amarillo as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Manuel Martinez
