Eugene "Gene" S. Waits

Gene was born February 6, 1927 in Kingman, Arizona, to Pearl and Stanley Joseph Waits. He served his country with the navy, during WWII, as a gunners mate 3rd class aboard the USS Ticonderoga. He was very proud of his service and received the WWII Victory Medal. On December 26, 1969, in Amarillo, he married the love of his life, Frances West Conner. Together, they celebrated over 40 years of marriage, until she predeceased him in October of 2011. He served as a volunteer firemen with the Stonewall Colorado VFD, which he greatly enjoyed. He owned and operated C & W Drywall for several years and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was very active in his church and liked gardening, fishing and building bird houses. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, a grandson, 3 step sons and 2 step daughters. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and physicians of Heritage Convalescent Center, for the love and care shown to Gene. He is survived by his children, Connie Davis, Vicky Stanfield, Jeannette Daniel and Shryll Smith and husband Mark; his grandchildren, Jeremy Hamilton and wife April, Kim Hudson and husband Scott, Victor Smith, Misty Ramirez, Kevin Conner, Christy Flores, Sheila Ince and Troy Hamilton; also surviving him are numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
