Fern "Granny Maw" Lewis

Fern “Granny Maw” Lewis, 87, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 20,2021 at 2 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. At the request of the family please wear a mask if you attend the memorial service.

Fern was born September 26, 1933 in Erwin, Tennessee to Staley and Juanita Peake. She graduated from Unicoi County High School. She married the love of her life Carroll Lewis on May 24, 1952 in Erwin. They spent a wonderful 68 years together. Fern worked as an administrative clerk at Pantex. She enjoyed needlepoint and square dancing with her friends. Fern loved to travel extensively with her husband to places like Hawaii, Europe, Canada, US and take cruises. She was always a big Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, she derived pleasure from her grandchildren’s and great-grand children’s events. Fern was a member of Hillside Christian Church.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Midge Ervin; a sister-in-law, Becky Peake; and her grandson, Matthew Lewis.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll Lewis; two brothers, Gene Peake and wife Ruby, and Bill Peake; one brother in law, Charlie Ervin; three sons, Jack Lewis and wife Rosie, Gary Lewis and wife Debbie, Jimmy Lewis and wife Diana; a daughter, Carolyn Kingham;  seven grandchildren, Michael Lewis and wife Irene, Stephen Lewis and wife Katelyn, Matthew’s wife Sabin KingLewis, Adam Lewis and wife Erica, Chad Munkres and wife Chelsea, Todd Munkres and wife Dede, Brandon Lewis and wife Megan, and Nathan Lewis; seven great-grandchildren, Kam Lewis, Jaxx Lewis Creek, Cladie King, Ledford KingLewis, Cannon Munkres, Ryder Munkres and Addie Munkres.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, to please donate blood at your local blood bank or send a memorial to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, at www.komen.org .
