Flournoy Coble, 102, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 in Johnson Chapel AME Church. Flournoy will be available for viewing from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home. Flournoy was born on August 18, 1915 in Waxahachie, Texas to Willie Lee Allen Coble Sr. and Hartense Jeffie Hayes Coble. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas. Flournoy had been a resident of Amarillo since 1936. She was a member of Johnson Chapel AME Church, where she sang in the choir for 50 years. Flournoy enjoyed reading her bible, riding horses, leading Girl Scouts troops and spoiling her beloved nephew, Willie Wide. She loved fishing, sewing, cooking and all types of gadgets. Flournoy was known as a real historian and a lady that looked younger than her age. Flournoy was proud that she learned to swim at the age of 60. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Willie Coble Sr. and wife Earlene; nephews, Willie Lee and Phillip Roy Coble; Flournoy is survived by nephews, Warren Coble and wife Mable, Ralph Coble, Marshall Coble and wife Faith; great nephew, Warren Coble Jr. nieces, Marilyn Coble and Stephanie Richardson and husband Kelvin; great-niece, Marlene Coble; and special friends, Deloris Thompson and Gloria Roberts.
