Floyd E. Cash

Col. Floyd E. Cash of Amarillo passed from this life on February 15, 2017. Mr. Cash was born November 13, 1925 in LaRue County, Kentucky. He was one of seven boys born to George Edward Cash and Ella Victoria Shoffner Cash. Mr. Cash served during WWII in the U.S. Army overseas in Europe. After discharge in 1946 he along with four brothers joined the Kentucky Air Force National Guard. On October 10, 1950, they were called to active duty. In October of 1951, Mr. Cash joined the U.S. Air Force. While in military service, Mr. Cash attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Europe during the Korean War. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1966-1967. He retired from the U.S. Air Force on August 16, 1968. Mr. Cash has been a master mason since 1948. He was a member of Highland Park Lodge F&AM 865 in Louisville, KY. In March of 1982, Mr. Cash was selected to be a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a distinguished honor of which he was very proud. He realized this was quite an achievement for the son of a share-cropper. Mr. Cash married Sue Bailey on May 13, 2000 in Amarillo. He was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Cash of Morrero, LA; a step-daughter, Rhonda Hill and husband Marvin of Canyon; two step-sons, Guy Bailey and wife Stacy of Abilene, and Michael E. Bailey of south Texas; a cousin, Rancie Cash and wife Karen; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his parents; in infant son in 1948; six brothers; his wife, Sue Cash in 2010; a daughter, Martha Ann Acy in 2008; a son, Floyd Lynn Cash in 2012; and a grandson, Garrett Elders in 2012. The family suggests memorials be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th, Amarillo, TX 79101; or Southlawn Baptist Church, 4306 S. Washington, Amarillo, TX 79110; or a favorite charity.
