Floyd Oliver

Floyd Oliver, 85, of Amarillo, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Temple Baptist Church, 3208 S. Van Buren, Amarillo, TX 79109, with Rev. Richard Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 5 - 7 pm. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Floyd was born October 10, 1929 in Thalia to Allie and A.E. Oliver. He graduated from Crowell High School in 1949. He married Peggy Eavenson in Wichita Falls on June 23, 1951. A custom harvester for almost 50 years, Floyd was a man of integrity, hard work and a gentle spirit. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leon Oliver. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and employees of BSA Hospice. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; his daughters, Brenda Oliver Laird and husband Darby, and Barbara Oliver Wise and husband Gary; his grandchildren and their families, Stephanie Crow Wrather and husband JJ and children Audrey and Garrett, Weston Crow and wife Karen and children Rilae Crow and Kelsey Floyd, Josh Laird and wife Kristina and child Asher, Jessica Laird Lopez and husband Anthony and child Skyler, Jason Laird and wife Jamie and children Darby Brooke and Sawyer, and Colton Wise and wife Bailey; his brother, Kenneth Oliver and wife Mary; as well as a host of other family friends. The family suggests memorials be to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 3208 S. Van Buren, Amarillo, TX 79109.
