Frances Richardson, 90, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Memorial services will be announced at a later time.
Frances was born June 16, 1935 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Wilbert and Elsie Babb. She graduated from Pampa High School and went on to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University. She married her husband of 57 years, Lonnie Richardson, on April 19, 1968 in Carson Co. Texas. Together they raised four daughters, Brenda, Gale, Rebecca and Sheri. Frances worked for SPS early on, which is where she and Lonnie met. She went on to work for Culberson-Stowers in Pampa, EJ Brach and Sons Candy Confectionary, where she was a route salesperson. She found route sales to be very rewarding and she earned top sales, including two trips to Hawaii. She was with Moore’s Food Pride in Boise City and worked for Sears in Amarillo for ten years before retiring. She was very involved in the Church of Christ in Boise City while they lived there.
Frances and Lonnie enjoyed RV travelling. Frances was an avid golfer and competed in tournaments. She was also a great bowler. She was an all-around animal lover and adored her dogs. Frances was an independent person and a loyal friend. She enjoyed time she was able to spend with her family. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jane Nelson; and a brother, Ray Babb.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Richardson; four daughters, Brenda Potter of Middleburg, FL, Gale Richardson of Brownwood, TX, Rebecca Robison and husband Allen of Eagle, ID, and Sheri Richardson of Edmond, OK; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to the High Plains Children’s Home at 11461 S. Western St. Amarillo, TX 79118; or to Amarillo SPCA, at amarillospcashelter.com.
