Amarillo

Frank Gideon Landram, Jr. 87, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and an unwavering love for life. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday February 8, 2025 at Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Frank was born in 1937 to parents, to Agnes and Frank Landram Sr. and raised in Madill, Oklahoma, where he spent his early years developing a passion for boxing. In pursuit of his dreams, he and his friends moved to California, where he continued boxing into his early 20s. Frank later transitioned into a career as an ironworker, working on oil rigs and dam projects in California, Nevada, and Utah.

Though he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas Tech University and became an esteemed professor and researcher at West Texas A&M University, he remained proudest of his time as a member of the Ironworkers of America Union. Even while dedicating himself to academia, Frank never lost his love for the land, spending his time teaching his children many lessons including how to ride horses and work cattle.

Known for his sharp witted charm and wisdom, Frank had a unique way of looking at life, always reminding those around him that “nothing is ever as good as it seems, and nothing is ever as bad as it seems.” His humor, strength, and insight touched the lives of many.

Frank is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Gene Howard, as well as his five children. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of hard work, laughter, singing, whistling, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.
