Gary was born Nov. 2, 1939, in Pauls Valley, Okla., to Delmer and Rachel Cleaver. He was a graduate of Dimmitt High School.
After graduating high school, Gary moved to Amarillo, where he lived the rest of his life. He worked his entire career as a printer and manager for Trafton-Autry Printing. He retired after being with the company for 47 years. He married Kay Riley on Aug. 9, 2004, in Amarillo.
Gary loved the outdoors and had a great love for hunting and fishing. He will also be remembered by his family and friends for his storytelling. He was a member of Lake Tanglewood Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Cleaver; a daughter, Tonya Cleaver; and a grandson, Michael Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of Lake Tanglewood; two sons, Barry Homfeld and wife Mary and Brent Homfeld; two stepdaughters, Maria Brown and husband Steve and Tanya Cataldi and husband Steve; two stepsons, Randy Riley and Rusty Riley; a brother, Dennis Cleaver; two sisters, Elizabeth Odom and husband Glenn and Eloise Varner
and husband Jerry; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
