Gary Dan Kunkel

Gary Dan Kunkel, 66, of Amarillo passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Hubbard officiating. Graveside Inurnment will be at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 31,2018 with military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Gary was born on May 13, 1951 in Amarillo to Oran and Dorothy Kunkel. He moved to Clovis, NM as a child, where he graduated from high school in 1969. He then enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in the security branch and was honorably discharged after 8 years of service. He worked as a truckdriver most of his life for various companies. In his free time, he enjoyed being with family and his friends, better known as the Three Amigos (Nichole, G.W. & Wilson) Gary is survived by his daughter, Amanda Rice and husband Bo of Bloomfield, NM; mother, Dorothy Quackenbush and husband Bill; 3 sisters, Cindy Hudspeth and husband Rick, Kathy Kunkel-Marck and Rena Kunkel, all of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren and his beloved dog, Lucky. Gary was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Jerry Kunkel.
