Gary Lloyd Marshall

March 16, 1948 — October 19, 2015

Gary was born on March 16, 1948 in Amarillo to Lloyd and Donaleta Marshall. He was raised in Amarillo, where he graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1966. He moved to Dallas in 1969, where he raised his family and worked as a fork lift mechanic. He married Carolyn Thompson on November 8, 2008 in Amarillo. They have been members of Hillside Christian Church West Campus since 2008. Gary began work in 2006 as a forklift mechanic for Shoppas Material Handling and worked until his illness. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and flying model airplanes in his spare time. He was quite the collector, collecting exotic animals as well as firearms. He was known for his quick-wit as well as his kind and generous personality. Most of all, he loved his family. He enthusiastically attended his grandchildrens' functions and loved nothing more than being their "granddad." He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Marshall of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Kristy Marshall of Rowlett and Kendra Jobe and husband Darin of Mesquite; step-daughter, Anita Benson of Amarillo; step-son, Bailey Tyler Thompson and wife Rosalinda of Yokosuka, Japan; 2 sisters, Shirley Butler of Mesquite and Suzanne Brantley and husband Homer of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Ronnie Marshall and wife Jo Ellen of Amarillo and Johnny Marshall and wife Debbie of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren, Taylor Threadgill, Averie Benson, Rainee Jobe, Skylar Jobe, Nathan Thompson, Braeden Thompson and Hailey Thompson; brother-in-law, James Wilson and wife Janet as well as many nieces, nephews and his special family, the Class Committee of Palo Duro High School Class of 1966. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna "Peaches" King and 2 grandchildren, Stormee Nichole and Christopher Max.
