Gary Dean Moore, 59, of Amarillo passed away on November 19, 2024.

Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday December 10, 2024 at Trinity Fellowship Church, Student Ministries Building, 5000 Hollywood Road with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating. The family will be accepting friends and family from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday December 9, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Gary D. Moore was born on December 14, 1964 to Howard and Linda Moore. Gary was raised in a farming and ranching family in Dumas, Texas, where he and his siblings all worked together. He graduated from Dumas High School. Gary graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in August of 1987. He performed minor construction and legal research while attending the university in Lubbock,

Texas. He made many lifelong friends while attending Texas Tech where he was a member of Saddle Tramps. After receiving his degree, Gary went to work for a prominent law firm in Dumas, Texas for a couple of years before entering into the commercial grain and livestock business specializing in commodity merchandising, transportation, quality assurance and risk management throughout the Southwest United States and Mexico for 15 years. He worked with various companies including DeBruce Grain (now Gavilon), Cactus Feeders and Farmland

Industries.

In 2004, Gary went to work for BWXT Pantex, the Managing and Operating Contractor for the United States Department of Energy as a Contract Specialist. He performed subcontract administration for services, design and construction plant wide. His primary responsibilities included solicitation, administration, enforcement and claims management of contracts for construction including installation of low voltage electrical devices, uninterruptible power systems, emergency generators, substation transformer and overhead power line replacement. Gary also worked closely with quality assurance in the application and implementation of nuclear quality assurance and a liaison with the subcontractors. He then came to work for Duke Electric in 2013 as the Manager of Business Systems. His primary responsibilities include risk management, legal review of contracts, contract and regulatory compliance, and collections. In 2015, Gary also became Manager of the Quality Assurance Program for the company. Gary Moore has served on various organizations’ Board of Directors throughout his career, and was currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the IBEW Seventh District- Retirement Benefit Trust Fund. He also served on the Board of Directors for Duke Electric.

Gary was a man of integrity. He had worked for Duke Electric for just over 11 years, there he just didn’t build work relationships he built a work family. Gary met and married the love of his life, Shannon Toth on July19, 2019 in Amarillo, TX. Together they shared laughs, amazing trips, and many incredible memories to treasure. He enjoyed entertaining and taking care of others. Gary loved to cook or grill up some of his amazing steaks or even bake his tasty cherry pie, or just trying out a new recipe. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. Gary and Shannon would go just about anywhere from Santa Fe to Colorado to anywhere around the world making amazing memories together. Gary loved spending time with all of his friends and family and going to family gatherings. There was never a dull moment with Gary in the house! He loved joking around and having a great time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Linda Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon; his three siblings, David Moore and wife, Meshell of Amarillo; Cheryl Harris of Vega; Bruce Moore and wife, Rhonda of Canyon; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews; his father-in-law, Robert Toth and his sister-in-law, Mary Wilson and her husband, Jerry.
