Geneva Hunt Owens

Geneva Hunt Owens, 88, of Amarillo passed peacefully from this life on Friday, December 21, 2017 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Northside United Pentecostal Church, 2424 N. Mirror with Rev. Rodger Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Geneva was born September 24, 1929 in Hye, Texas to Max D. and Selma Oehler. She attended Tivy High School. Geneva was a loving mother who raised three sons with her first husband, A.B. Hunt. She married Lon Owens in 1985 and they ran their own business in Comfort, Texas. She returned to Amarillo in 1995 to be closer to her family. She enjoyed many years of retirement activities with her special friend and significant other, Frank Odell, before his passing in 2006. Geneva loved dancing, shopping, getting "dolled up", and spending time with her closest friend, Wanda Clement. She treasured any time she was able to spend with her beloved "fur-babies", Scotty and Chico. Her greatest enjoyment by far, though, was always spending time with her family and her much anticipated phone calls from her sister, Lucille. Geneva was loved by all who knew her, and they will treasure her memory forever. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ray Oehler; two grandsons, Jason Hunt and Bradley Hunt; and her companion, Frank Odell. Survivors include, three sons, Keith Hunt of Kerrville, Glenn Hunt of Omaha, NE, and Darrell Hunt and wife Tammye of Amarillo; her sister, Lucille Likin Sharer and husband David of Kerrville; four grandchildren, Christopher Hunt and wife Vanessa, Aubrie Hunt, Brent Hunt, and Jennifer Grimes; her adopted grandson, Andrew Sater; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Lucas Hunt. The family requests memorials be made to Northside United Pentecostal Church, 2424 N. Mirror St. Amarillo, TX 79107.
