George A. McGill, 75, of Amarillo, died on Friday, January 8, 2021. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas. George was born January 25, 1945 in Seminole, Oklahoma to George and Deloris McGill. He went to school in Sunray, and then Stinnett, graduating from Stinnett High School in 1964. He married Sandra Middleton in 1991. He worked as a truck driver for Lake Steel until his retirement in 2014. George enjoyed rebuilding old Dodge pickups, and driving race cars. He also loved trains, and was an animal lover. George was a longtime member of the American Truck Historical Society. He also travelled with the Western Swing Music Society. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Georgette Robertson. Survivors include his wife, Sandra McGill; three daughters, Junessa Moss of Moriarty, NM, Michelle Stafford of Lubbock, and Melanie Reyes of Amarillo; a brother, Roland McGill and wife Diana of Panhandle; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Animal Rescue Shelter, 12500 FM 1541, Amarillo, TX 79118.
