Georgie Smith

Georgie Smith, 79 of Amarillo died Friday, March 30, 2018. Memorial services will be 2:00 Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Todd Merriman officiating. Georgie was born January 11, 1939 to Charley and Cressie Harriss. She attended Canyon High School. She married Dennis Smith on December 1, 1956. Georgie worked as a waitress at Myers Fried Chicken in the 1960's and 1970's. She also worked at China Inn. She was co-owner of North Plains Overhead Doors. Georgie had a great love for animals, she adored her dogs, Dillon, Tinker, and Sam. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved music. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dennis Smith; one brother, Paul Harriss Jr.; two sisters, Jerri Colleen Hoynacki and Ruby Lee Meckley; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Peggy Smith. Survivors include one sister, Juanita Pauline Dunlap and husband Ray of Amarillo; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; her special young friend, Emmy and their beloved poodle Kibby. The family suggests memorials be made to Amarillo S.P.C.A., 11901 S. Coulter Amarillo, TX 79119.
