Gerald Alan Joy

Gerald Alan Joy, 77, of Amarillo passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home. Gerald was born on January 12, 1941 in McNary, AZ to O.B. and Olga Joy. Gerald graduated from Kingman High School and went on to graduate from West Texas State University in the late 60's. He married Laura Odom on October 5, 1974 in Amarillo. Gerald was a Certified Public Accountant for 40+ years and served on The Faith City Mission Board of Directors for over 20 years. Gerald enjoyed telling jokes, traveling and taking care of his beloved wife, Laura. He was known for his dry humor, his love of Pepsi and was never too far from his snack drawer. Gerald was a member of Trinity Fellowship and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Laura Joy; sons, Karl Brown and wife Stacey, Paul Brown and wife Tina, and Jared Joy; daughter, Resa Joy; brother, Michael Joy; two nephews, two nieces, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Faith City Mission; 401 SE 2nd Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79101.
