Gerald Meador, 63, of Amarillo passed away on June 10, 2024. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday at Lamount Drive Baptist Church, 8400 Lamount Drive with Pastor Glen Switzer officiating.
Gerald was born on May 12, 1961 to Derald and Janice Meador in Amarillo. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1980. Gerald then went on to further his education in trade school at TSTI as a machinist. He used his trade skill at Haliburton for several years as a machinist before he went on to drive trucks with his brother, Jerry. They worked together hauling containers for PCS for 15 years. Gerald has been a member at Lamount Baptist Church since 1973, where he was a song leader with Jerry. He loved to go fishing, usually with his brother and cousin. They were called “The Three Amigos”. Gerald enjoyed golfing, you could catch him on the green after work. He earned his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do with his brother, and eventually ended up teaching a few classes as well. Gerald could cook about everything from his famous chocolate cake, cookies, chocolate rice crispy treats to Holly Dolly’s.
He was a hard worker, he took great pride in everything he did. You could always count on him being there for you, to give advice or just be the support you needed. Gerald truly never met a stranger, the world was an open field to him. He truly loved the Lord and was happy to tell everyone about Jesus. Gerald gave himself the honorary title of “Honorary Gideon” due to he loved to hand out bibles and tell everyone about our Lord and Savior. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Derald Meador.
Survivors include his mother, Janice; his brother, Jerry and wife Kay of Amarillo; and his beloved fur baby, Skeeter; uncle Adrian Meador and wife Betty of Muleshoe, TX; his cousins, Charise VanCuren and husband Kenny of Midland, TX; Brian Meador and wife Laurie of Las Cruces, NM. Survivors also include a host of extended family members and dear friends.
