Gerald W. "Jerry" Williams, 65, of Amarillo died Friday March 14, 2014.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel with Ken Haney, chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Jerry was born Dec. 12, 1948, in Ardmore, Okla., to Harry and Bernice Williams. He loved camping in Colorado, as well as fishing and bird hunting. He was a handy person to have around and could fix or mend just about anything you could imagine. He had strong hands but a very soft and giving heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bernice Williams; a brother, Gene Williams; his aunt and uncle, Ercie and Jake Henderson; a cousin, John Henderson; and his grandparents, Frank and Eunice Rountree.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Williams; a son, Randy Cavner and wife Shannon of Gardner, Kan.; two grandchildren, Grason and Kate Cavner; two brothers, David Williams of Lexington, Okla., and Doug Williams of Ardmore; a sister-in-law, Linda Williams of Sulphur, Okla.; four nieces, Amber, Jenny, Cassidy and Kelby; two nephews, Shawn and Jeffrey; a cousin, Elaine Zipperle; a childhood friend, Don Mitchell and wife Diane; three special companions, Millie, Sadie and Blackie; and numerous other relatives and friends who will dearly miss him.
The family suggest memorials be to Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center or ASPCA.
