Gerry Brown

July 22, 1938 — May 13, 2018

Gerry Donald Brown passed from this life on Sunday, May 13, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Journey Church, 9711 FM 2186 with Rev. Darrell Brown and Dr. Charles Jones officiating. Burial will be Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Gerry was born into a farming family on July 22, 1938. He joined his brothers Jim and Gene in a family that would later include two younger sisters, Jim Ann and Kay. These five children along with dad, Floyd and mother Fannie, worked to earn a living in the sandy lands around Lingo, N.M. Life was hard and money was scarce, but the family had great love. While attending Causey High School, Gerry met and married the love of his life Barbara Casey. They married on August 17, 1956. They spent the next 57 years guiding and rearing a family of four children, Donna, Brenda, Darrell, and Linda. Gerry owned and operated Southwestern Coin Meter Corporation for a number of years. When he retired, he enjoyed driving cars for several local dealerships. He enjoyed the men who drove with them and their friendship. Gerry was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his deep love for Jesus Christ. He was a member of Journey Church and loved his Southern Gospel Music. Over time, his family grew to include four grandsons and three granddaughters that became his true pride and joy. This PaPa was thrilled when he added three great-grandsons, Parker, Kason, and two-week old, Kolter, and one great-granddaughter, Blakely. His smile was never greater than when he was looking at these great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and his daughter Linda Hite. He is survived by his daughter Donna Ward and her husband John of Amarillo; daughter Brenda Stephens of Frisco, Texas; son Darrell Brown and his wife Tammy of Grapevine, Texas; son-in-law Rod Hite of Mesquite; his grandchildren, Kristin DeRight, Bethany Smith, Kelsey Hale, Kegan Stephens, Jace Brown, Timothy Hite, and Matthew Hite.
