Glen E. Evans, 97, of Amarillo, passed away on his 97th birthday, Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Pastor Rita Morrow and Chaplain Ken Branum officiating.
Glen was born February 22, 1925 in Elk City, Oklahoma to R.M. and Bertha Evans. He grew up in western Oklahoma. He farmed and ranched for many years and also worked construction. He went on to work for JI Case Equipment, retiring in 1995. Glen married his wife Linda on June 16, 1981. They were longtime members of First Presbyterian Church in Canyon. Glen was an alderman for the village of Timbercreek Canyon and helped to establish The Timbercreek Volunteer Fire Dept. In his spare time, Glen was a talented artist and woodworker. He enjoyed gardening and always had a garden. He also loved riding and roping. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl Dorman and Jim Evans; and a sister, Florita Boggess.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Evans; four sons, Bobby G. Evans and wife Shirley of Rowlette, TX, James Evans and Jane of Canyon Lake, TX, Dennis Evans and wife Yvonne of Schertz, TX, and J.R. Irwin and wife Lisa of Enid, OK; two daughters, Glenice Evans of McQueeney, TX, and Andrea Perky and husband Matt of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren, Aaron Evans of Corinth, TX, Angie Sides of Canyon, TX, Lynna Pyle of Plano, TX, Toby Lynn of Lubbock, TX, Talum Lynn of Tomball, TX, Tyler Lynn of Rockwall, TX, Karen Jackson, Jared Evans, and Darek Evans all of Schertz, TX, Amanda Perez of Wimberley, TX, Jill Keresztury of New Braunfels, TX, Hannah Perky and Alex Perky both of Amarillo, TX, Gunner Irwin of Amarillo, TX, and Delaney Irwin of Enid, OK; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Timbercreek Volunteer Fire Dept., 101 N Timbercreek Dr. #B, Amarillo, TX 79118.
