Gloria Lee (Turpin) Platts

Gloria Lee Turpin Platts passed away November 7, 2020, at the age of 92. Gloria was born September 10, 1928, in New Castle Indiana to Harry McKinley Turpin and Philena Fay Rice Turpin. The family will have a private Memorial service at a later date. Gloria had two sisters, Harriet Turpin Sherry & Barbara Turpin Hamilton, with Gloria being the middle daughter. Her older sister Harriet passed away in 1998. Gloria married Robert Platts and had 4 children. They divorced, but remained close friends and devoted to their children; Deborah Platts Rogers, Stephen Platts, Rebecca Platts Powell and Mari Platts Fye. Gloria’s daughter Debbi passed away in October of 2000 and her son Steve January in of 2018. Gloria had a history of serving people. It was where she found her JOY, whether in restaurants, home care for several elderly couples or at Jan Werner Adult Center of Amarillo. Gloria went to Jan Werner for almost 21 years! Her love of helping everyone there was immense! Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Powell, husband Patrick & Mari Beth (Gloria’s RARE GEM as she lovingly called her), husband Larry, 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and five great-great Grandchildren.
