Grace "Denette" Mcclain

January 22, 1960 — October 4, 2015

Denette was born on January 22, 1960 in Borger to Robert and Grace Ammons. She was raised in Borger before moving to Austin, where she graduated high school and eventually moved to Amarillo. Here, she attended WTAMU and met her husband, Tracy McClain. They were married on May 25, 1979 in Amarillo, where they began their family. They were devoted members of Trinity Fellowship Church, where she faithfully served in the Children's Ministry. At the age of 48, Denette went back to school to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her education. Denette was an avid USC Trojans and Seattle Seahawks fan and enjoyed playing volleyball, both for city leagues as well as previously playing for WTAMU. She will be remembered for her strong will and loving spirit. Most of all, Denette loved her family and enjoyed nothing more than being "Pom Pom" to her grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Harrington Cancer Center of Amarillo. She is survived by her husband, Tracy McClain; son, Jordon McClain; 2 daughters, Erin McClain and Jenny McClain; 2 grandchildren, Andalen McQueary and Fynlee Bevers; brother, Drexel Ammons and wife Dena; all of Amarillo and sister, Debbie Hall and husband Robert of Denver, CO; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and her close friend, Stephanie James.
