On July 27, 2025, our beloved mother, Grace Favela Ortega, was called home to be with the Lord. Grace lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday August 8, 2025 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Pastor Jose Moncayo officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday August 7, 2025 at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Grace was born on September 16, 1946 in Ignacio Zaragoza, Chihuahua, to Celso and Lucrecia Favela. She began her spiritual journey with the Lord in 1982, when she joined the congregation at Templo Emmanuel, in Anthony, NM. Grace went on to attend and graduate from Filadelfia Bible Institute in El Paso, Texas and went on to serve the Lord as a pastor in El Paso, Texas, then moving to Amarillo, Texas where she made her home and continued to be a faithful servant as a pastor at New Beginnings church. She devoted herself to diverse ministries within the Assemblies of God throughout her 42 year ministry and this allowed her to be a leader, a teacher, and a mentor in the Lord’s service. Grace shared her love for the Lord and embraced the fellowship with other servants of God. She was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of life. Grace found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.
As a mother, she raised five children and reminded them of the ways of the Lord and encouraged them to love, to serve and to trust in Him always. She found strength in scripture such as Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.” Grace now rests in the arms of the Savior, free from pain, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Matilde Ortega; her mother, Lucrecia Favela; her father, Celso Favela; her brothers: David, Erasmo, Joel and Samuel Favela and her sister, Elma Vega.
Grace Favela Ortega is survived by her children: Luis De Luna Jr. (Grace), Charlie De Luna (Nathalie), Nancy De Luna (Paul), Lorena Granados (Gustavo), and Sonia Vasquez (Manuel); 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren; by her sisters Olga Gonzalez and Martha Medrano; brother, Ricardo Favela; and a host of loving friends and relatives.
