Granville Erwin Hardy

March 31, 1937 — May 22, 2016

Granville was born on March 31, 1937 in Pleasanton, Texas to Lyle and Alma Hardy. He moved shortly after to Sacramento, CA, where he was raised, graduated high school, and received his Associates Degree in Electronics from Sacramento Junior College. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a radar tech during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged. While in the Air Force he married his wife, Elena, on March 24, 1963 in LaGrange, IL until she preceded him in death on April 19, 2014 after 51 years of marriage. After his discharge, he started work at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1966 as an electronic technician. Continuing in the same field, Granville started work at the Pantex Plant in March 1978 until his retirement on March 31, 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family and pets as well as watching birds and other wildlife in the country. In his spare time, Granville loved target practice and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He is survived by his 2 sons, Guy Hardy and wife Catherine of Amarillo and Marshall Hardy of Amarillo; grandson, Jesse; 2 brothers, Roy D. Hardy of Sacramento, CA and Arthur H. Hardy and wife Jeannine of Salt Lake City, UT; 3 sisters, Naomi Schmidt and husband Leonard of Sacramento, Vida Adelman and husband Gordon of Sacramento and Pauline Hardy of San Luis, Obisbo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Elena Hardy in 2014.
