Gypsy Lee Herrington, 80, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday March 24, 2026 at Faith Southwest Methodist Church, 4415 Wesley Rd, with Rev. Dr. Mark Welshimer officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday March 23, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Gypsy was born on November 19, 1945 to Forrest and Metta Waller in Searcy, Arkansas. She was a proud graduate of Searcy High School, Class of 1963. During her school years she was involved in many organizations and activities. Some of her favorites included The National Thespian Society and the Searcy High School Melody Maids. She continued her education at State Teachers College. Throughout her life, she remained dedicated to personal growth, community, and service. Gypsy was an active member and former President of the Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, where she formed many cherished friendships.

On July 19, 1986, Gypsy married the love of her life, James, beginning a beautiful journey filled with devotion, laughter, and shared passions. Together, they enjoyed fishing, camping in their RV, many travels, and creating lasting memories.

Gypsy was a faithful member of Faith SW Methodist Church, where her kindness and warmth touched many lives. Professionally, she served as an administrative assistant to the Vice President of Development at Harrington Cancer Center until her retirement in 2000, offering compassion and care to all she encountered.

A gifted and passionate writer, Gypsy was a phenomenal poet whose work was published and recognized by the International Library of Poetry. She received multiple Editor’s Choice Awards, a testament to her creativity, heartfelt expression, and passion.

Gypsy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, bowling, attending church, and spending cherished time with loved ones. She was deeply family-oriented and treasured every moment with her family. Above all, she delighted in being “silly” with her grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and love that will be cherished forever.

Gypsy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, creativity, and her unwavering faith, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. Her legacy of genuine kindness and joy will live on in all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Metta Waller, and her sister Jane Tubbs.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, James; her daughter, Allison Smith of Austin, TX; her two step-children, Chad Herrington of Phoenix, AZ; Danette Sigmon and her husband Doug of Glendale, AZ; her grandchildren; Britani Bohrer, Bailey Pape, Brayden Bohrer, Allison Sigmon, Hana Herrington, Dustin Sigmon; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter on the way.
