Harold Ritchey

Harold Ritchey, 90, of Amarillo, died Thursday, August 23, 2018. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Llano East Cemetery with Pastor Corky Holland of First Baptist Church officiating. Harold was born September 15, 1927 in Wells County, Indiana to Lauren and Ada Ritchey. He was raised on a farm in central Indiana, and graduated from Jackson Center High School in Jackson County in 1945. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an officer in training at Villanova University toward the end of WWII. He married Annabelle Weaver on April 6, 1947. He worked as a postal inspector for USPS from 1958 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Retired Postal Inspectors. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Ronald McDonald Room at NWTHS. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years, and worked at the Family Life Center there. Harold was most proud of running in his marathons. He ran in over 30 marathons all over the U.S., including Honolulu and New York. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Annabelle Ritchey; two daughters, Mona Goodpasture of Dallas, and Lana Fry and husband Jim of Amarillo; a son, Mark Ritchey and wife Nancy Ricca of Fulshear; a sister, Freda Moon of Marion, IN; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
