Harrel Johnson

February 9, 1931 — June 5, 2017

Harrel was born February 9, 1931 in Tahoka to Lewis and Leta Johnson. He graduated from Dalhart High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957. He married Sarah Wells in 1958 in Clayton, NM. Harrel owned and operated Green Lawn Sprinkler Co. for several years. He was a truck driver for Jack B. Kelley for 15 years. For the last 11 years, he was worked as a marshall at Ross Rogers Golf Course. In addition to golf, he also enjoyed hunting, shooting, and fishing. Harrel loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kristi McGrath; four brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Johnson; two sons, Wayne Johnson and wife Beverly, and Mike Johnson and wife Ronda all of Amarillo; three daughters, Vickie White and husband Bill of Canyon, Brenda Rich and husband Shane of Salida, CO, and Teresa Crich and husband Richard of Amarillo; a brother, Ray Lee Johnson and wife Anna Mae of Canyon; a sister, Venita Bevans of Dalhart; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
