Harvey Russell

Harvey was born July 18, 1925 to parents G. M. and Lethaonua Russell. He grew up around Pep, NM and attended school at Lingo. Upon graduation he entered the Army in 1944. He served in WWII in the 83rd Infantry, returning home in 1946. He married Joyce Ward on January 27, 1949 in Yuma, AZ They made their home in Oxnard, CA before moving to Barstow, CA in 1955. He worked for the Motor Transport at U.S.M.C. at Barstow, retiring in 1972. He moved to Portales that same year. He loved travel, hunting, fishing and playing Canasta with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Russell. Survivors include a son Larry Russell and wife Patrice of Canon City, CO; three daughters, Linda Clower and husband Tom of Prattville, AL, Brenda Pesch and Debbie Goff and husband Steve, all of Portales, NM; and four grandchildren, Nathan Pesch of Colorado Springs, CO, Jennifer Pesch of Ely, NV, Hayden (Halee) Goff of Artesia, NM and their daughters, McKinley and Kaydee Goff, Tanah (Justin) Stewart of Canon City, Co., their son, Ryder Russell Stewart and a sister, Hazel Pedersen of Lubbock, TX. The Family wishes to thank the staff at Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home, where Harvey has lived since 2011, for their excellent care.
