Henry Honea

Henry Honea, 76, of Amarillo, Passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM on Monday, November 30, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Canyon, 1717 4th Ave. with Pastor Steve Olsen officiating. Henry was born July 24, 1944 in Tulia, Texas to Doyle and Lavada Honea. He grew up at Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch, and graduated from Tulia High School. He earned a bachelor degree from West Texas State University. He married Deann Hartman on June 1, 1963 in Juarez, Mexico. Henry was a firefighter for Amarillo Fire Dept. before going to work as a claims adjuster for Farmers Insurance, where he worked for the next 25 years. Henry loved fishing, riding his Harley, and roping. He was a longtime member of Amarillo HOG, and a member of Will Rogers Range Riders, where he served on the board. Henry was also past president of the Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch Alumni Association. He and Deann were recognized as the 2020 Grandparents of the Year for Texas Tech University. Henry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Russell Honea; and two sisters, Cynthia Honea and Susan Montague. Survivors include his wife, Deann Honea; his daughter-in-law, Pamela Hembree and husband Frank of Amarillo; his son by heart, Rick Humphrey and wife Jamie of Amarillo; his granddaughter, Kayla Romero and boyfriend, Chris Koenig of Amarillo; two step-grandsons, Blake Hembree and Tanner Hembree; his great-grandson, Wesley Romero; two brothers, Jim Honea of Temple, and John Honea of Pensacola, FL; and two sisters, Sonja Love of Canyon, and Juretta Gorka and husband Paul of St. Louis, MO.
