Homer Wayne Brantley

Homer was born on July 21, 1941 in Monticello, Arkansas to Homer Lee and Mary Brantley. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 2, 2016. He moved to Amarillo with his family when he was six years old. He was a member of the 1959 graduating class of Palo Duro High School. He was proud to be a "Don" and bragged often that he was "Proud to be a North Sider". He also attended West Texas State University. As a boy, all Homer ever wanted to do was drive a train. He went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in 1959 and for many years, has held the position as # 1 on the seniority list for locomotive engineers. He retired from the Burlington Northern / Santa Fe Railroad in June. Homer married Suzanne Landrum on February 15, 1994 in Amarillo. Together, they had a great love for running. They had the opportunity to run in all 50 states, and also 14 foreign countries. He also ran for over twenty years without ever missing one day. He was a loving husband, dad, "PawPaw", brother and friend. He was always active in his kid's lives and coached them in sports when they were young. He currently holds the NASA State record for Masters 3 Bench Press and the NASA American record for Masters 4 Bench Press. He loved working in his yard and his flower beds and took a lot of pride in making his home beautiful. Homer was a devout Christian man and loved his Lord. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and was known as the "Puppet Man" to many of the Church's children. He had a great love for greeting the children of the church with his puppets every Sunday. He loved the smiles on their faces. He will be remembered for his heart for others as well as his love for practical jokes. Homer was preceded in death by parents and by his granddaughter, Heather Nicole Moseley. He is survived by his wife Suzanne of Amarillo, four daughters, Drenda Moseley and husband Tony of Franklin, Tenn., Lisa Rhodes of Central City, Colorado, Erin Smith and husband Brandon of Dallas and Sami Haley of Amarillo. Two sons, David Brantley of Amarillo and Kaleb Thomason and his wife Leslie Branigan also of Amarillo. One sister, Brenda English of Amarillo and four brothers, Jimmy Brantley of Yantis, Texas, Bobby Gaines of Amarillo, Scott Brantley of Salisaw, Oklahoma and Randy Brantley of Eufaula, Oklahoma. 5 grandchildren, Jason Wayne Moseley, Clint Moseley, Grant Brantley, Payton Rhodes, and Addy Lynn Smith. He also had 7 great grandchildren, Hunter Wayne Moseley, Carleigh Moseley, Tyler Moseley, Chance Moseley, Gracie Moseley, Maxx Moseley, and Bayylor Moseley.
