Jack Lovelady, 83, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, with Chaplain Ken Branum officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Jack was born November 20, 1939 in Golddust, Tennessee to William and Lucille Lovelady. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Apperson on January 23, 1960 in Ripley, Tennessee. They moved to Amarillo in 1984 from Memphis, Tennessee. Jack worked in roofing and mechanics for many years. He did van maintenance for Children’s Learning Center. In his retirement, he and Bonnie enjoyed traveling in their RV. They traveled to Tennessee and south Texas, among many other places, and enjoyed staying in Palo Duro Canyon. Jack was a strong independent man who fiercely loved his family. He was a shade tree mechanic and kept all the family’s vehicles in working order. Jack enjoyed telling stories and reminiscing about old times. He loved sweets and loved his family even more. He enjoyed spending time at the racetrack.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings; and a granddaughter, Candise Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Lovelady; two sons, Danny Lovelady and wife Peggy, and David Lovelady and wife Stephanie all of Amarillo; two daughters, Maryanne Lovelady and Jackie Lovelady and husband Cliff Howland all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Nicole Lovelady, Danny Ray Lovelady and wife Amber, Harley Lovelady and wife Laura, Jake Lovelady, John Barnwell, Vincent Hall and wife Aubree, Rori Buck and Reno Shelton; and eight great-grandchildren, Madison, Gracelyn, Logan, Charlee, Rose, Chloe, Savannah and Jaxson.
