Jackie "Jack" Stephen Simpson

Jack was born on January 19, 1937 in Purcell, OK to James and Geraldine Lackey. At the age of 10 at the death of his mother, Jack was adopted and raised by Bennie and Velma Simpson in Dallas, TX. There he graduated high school in 1955 and married Rochelle Stansbury on April 23, 1955. Jack worked as a mechanical contractor, as a plumber and home builder for over 45 years. Upon retirement in 1997, he and Rochelle moved to Amarillo. Jack was a talented oil painter, displaying much of his work in many offices and homes throughout Dallas and Amarillo. He had a great love for animals and cherished his pets. Jack was a devoted member of Temple Baptist Church and served as past Master of the Masonic Lodge. Jack is survived by his wife, Rochelle Simpson of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Melinda Fletcher and husband Ralph of Amarillo and Shelba Jo Simpson of Houston; several brothers and sisters and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Temple Baptist Church: New Van Fund: 3208 S. Van Buren, Amarillo, TX 79109.
