James Gallegos, 55, of Amarillo passed away March 13, 2025. A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday March 21, 2025 at First Christian Church, 3001 Wolflin with Brett Coe officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday March 20, 2025 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
James was born June 27 1969 in Portales, New Mexico to Roy Gallegos and Guadeloupe Martinez. He completed his education by getting his GED. James married the love of his life Crystal on April 19, 2008, together they shared 16 years before his passing. James was an avid softball player for many years playing for many teams over the years and having the nickname “G”. He also loved to go fishing with his kids and enjoyed collecting Oakley sunglasses. James was also a huge Atlanta Braves fan and never missed a season of baseball. He was the oldest of six.
He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe Martinez and Roy Gallegos; son Shawn Gallegos; Grandmother Hermalinda Hernandez; uncle David Gonzales; uncle Raymond Gonzales; aunt Josie Gonzales; aunt Maria de la Luz Acosta and mother-in-law Rhonda Flowers.
Survivors include his loving wife, Crystal Gallegos of the home; daughter Megan Gallegos; daughter Erika Barber (Lee); son David Gallegos; son Brandon Gallegos; son Zachary Gallegos; daughter Kaitlynn Gallegos, all of Amarillo, Texas; his beloved fur babies Lily, Daisy, Zoey and Princess; his 12 grandchildren; his siblings, brother Santiago Segovia of Roswell, New Mexico; sister Rachel John’s (Lydon) of Houston, Texas; brother Anthony Gallegos of Clovis, New Mexico; sister Deanna Carrera of Tucumcari, New Mexico; sister April Bratton (Kennan) of Leander, Texas. Survivors also include a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
