James "Ned" Clark, 78, of Canyon, died Thursday, March 20, 2014.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Canyon Hills Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Ned was born Aug. 13, 1935, to J.P. and Nettie Clark and raised in Cottonwood.
Ned graduated in 1953 from Cross Plains High School and married Billie Ruth Woody in November 1954 in Cross Plains. They moved in 1972 to Canyon. They were married for 59 years.
Ned was a member of Church of Christ. He worked in road construction for Cooper & Woodruff, Plains Machinery and, the last 25 years, with Holmes Construction after serving two years in the Army, stationed in Germany.
His favorite pastimes included watching grandchildren play baseball, riding 4-wheelers with family and traveling to Laughlin, Nev., and Santa Fe, N.M., with Billie Ruth.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janie Clark Woody, and a daughter, Billie June Whitson.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Ruth; two sons, Gary and wife Brenda of Muleshoe and Scott and wife Tandy of Canyon; a sister, Barbara "Cookie" Robinson and husband Bob of Cottonwood; a brother-in-law, Billy Gene Woody of Fort Worth; a sister-in-law, Marie Brown of Abilene; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
