Jim Mullane was born in Fort Worth, TX but was a longtime resident of Amarillo, Texas. He was a graduate of both Amarillo High School and Amarillo College. He would later graduate from the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg. He had a lifelong career as a firefighter for the Amarillo Fire Department. He retired in 2001 as a district chief. He spent his retirement doing all the things he loved including golfing, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and his greatest love of all, spending time with his shar pei, Molly. He was unshakable in his faith and a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Church.
The highlight of his life was his family; although everyone around him knew of his warmth and vivacious love of life. He will be forever known as the most loving husband, father, brother, friend, and most of all "Papa."
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce and Charlotte.
He was survived by his wife and the love of his life, Valerie Mullane. Jim was also survived by his children. One son, Jim Mullane Jr., his wife Kim. One daughter, Tina Heider and her husband Bill. Also survived by the children of his wife, whom he loved as his own and they as their own. Two daughters Carrie Gabroy, her partner Joshua Kornexl as well as Celeste Gabroy. Two sons Christian Gabroy and his wife Allison; Calder Gabroy and his dog, a lifelong friend of Jim's, Stump. From his six children, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren including; Will Mullane, Jacob Mullane, Aaron Mullane, Alexis Erickson, Nicholas Erickson, Bennett Gabroy, Lane Gabroy, Cosette Gabroy, and Caroline Gabroy, Devan Price, and Dillan Heider. As well as his great grandchildren; Ashton Mullane, Brynli Mullane, Charlotte Heider, Elle Heider, and Ronyn Price.
