James Edward Lester

James Edward Lester, 52, of Amarillo passed away February 18, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday February 22, 2024 at Life Church, 8600 Canyon Expressway, with Hunter Threlkeld officiating. The family will be accepting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

James was born February 26, 1971 in Amarillo to Melvin and Francis Lester. He attended Palo Duro High School (kinda). James met and married the love of his life Misti Farrar on April 10, 2004. He was a proud member of Life Church. James was one of a kind, he was a good man. He was a heck of a cook, everything from briskets, chili to fajitas. The lake was James’ happy place, whether he was fishing, and cooking breakfast for his whole hoard or just being there. He was an avid Wal-Mart clearance shopper, enjoyed all the Black Friday sales at every Wal-Mart from Canyon to Dalhart. James had a love for his family like no other. He loved his wife fiercely. James truly loved being “Pops” to his grandchildren more than anything, they would always bring a smile to his face. He enjoyed watching his boys play hockey, and his grand-babies playing all the sports (even if it was baseball and ballet). James will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his Ma and Dad; his father-in-law; his “ABC’s”; Alex, Benjamin and Camden.

Survivors include his loving wife, Misti of the home; his daughter Shelby Conley (Jason “Yankee”) of Amarillo; his four sons, Kyler Wheeler of Michigan; Jordan Wheeler of Amarillo; Kaide Lester (Bree) of Amarillo; Noah Wheeler (Brittney “Bob”) of Amarillo; his bonus kid Chantal Whetzel of Amarillo; his six grandchildren, Jeremiah; Felicity, Brayleigh; Jordy; Gyntry; and Pumbaa; his mom Teresa Headding (Jeff) of Dalhart, his two brothers Charles Headding of Dalhart; Jerry Lester (Lea) of Oklahoma. Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.
