James Evan Luster

February 19, 1971 — February 16, 2018

James Evan Luster, age 46, reached the end of a battle on February 16, 2018. The struggles he endured and fought through have been completed. His mind can finally rest. Even as James fought, his love for his children was relevant and seen not only every day but every time he got to hug them. His family will hold a Celebration of James' life and their love for him on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church. James Evan Luster was born on February 19, 1971 to Tanja and Orvel Ray in Heidelberg, Germany. James' dad quickly gave him a love for camping, the mountains, and fishing before he could barely walk. The relationship James had with his daddy was strong. They could be found talking, laughing, and enjoying their friendship. When James lost Orvel, he lost his best friend and hero. James was never quite the same person without his dad but you could see Orvel's love continue to live on when James was around his children and family. After the passing of his dad, James strived daily to instill the same values that his dad passed to him. The wisdom and patience that James saw his dad give to him and his brothers was always seen when James was with his babies. James grew up in Wildorado, Texas with his five brothers: Josh, Josiah, Trenton, Brandon, and Matthew. Not only were they loved and nurtured by their mother Tanja, but also by their mother Rojanna. James attended Vega High School where he graduated and excelled in all the sports he participated in. He married his high school sweetheart, Noami Chapman. Together their family grew by three beautiful children, Zane, Zachary, and his "babycakes", Savana Bel, who enjoyed the adventures James shared with them. He raised his children to not only have a love for the fresh clean air in the mountains, the quiet rolling creeks with a fishing pole, but to also have a strong grounded relationship with their family. Even through troubles and turmoil, James tried to maintain a steady hand on where and what his children were doing. When James decided to return to Colorado, he reconnected and fell in love with Ruby Silva. His love for Ruby was not only for her but he fell in love with her four children, Tyler, Amanda, Adam, and Kristine. James and Ruby were also blessed to have a child of their own. His namesake, chicken feeding buddy, and dance partner, Jaevin Telia, could always be found by his side. When James was blessed and given the special gift of granddaughters, his pride and love grew six times greater. Madilyn Bel, Elizabeth Kate, Allie Elizabeth, Preslea Jill, Kenzlee Paige, Aspen Taylor, and Naomi Scarlett all had a special place in James' heart. When these girls were around, their granddaddy was wrapped around their little pinkies. When you met James, you knew you were special and were going to be hugged by a very kind heart. When James spoke, his wise cracks could always put a smile on your face, and his heart was as warm as the bonfires he loved to sit by. The love James surrounded us with will forever be in our hearts.
