Jim was born on November 24, 1925 in Young County to A.R. and Doris Nash. He was raised in Loving, TX, where he graduated high school. He was then drafted into the United States Navy, serving briefly before his honorable discharge. He married the love of his life, Doris Crum on July 4, 1943 in Oklahoma. Jim worked as a farmer in Loving, TX, before beginning his career in the cattle business. He worked as a cattleman all over Texas and the Southwest United States. Jim was an admirable Patriarch of the family and was a doting husband to his wife Doris. They were longtime members of Paramount Baptist Church. Jim was a past Master of Palo Duro Masonic Lodge #1239, a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, a Royal Arch Mason, a member of the Commandery and the Knights Templar as well as a member of the Khiva Shrine.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or to West Texas Rehab.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lillian Hawkins; granddaughter, Abby Billups and his wife, Doris Nash.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Nichols and husband Don of Amarillo; 2 sons, Randall and Timothy Nash of Amarillo; grandsons, Noah Cook and wife Megan and Andrew Nash Cook and wife Miri, all of Amarillo; 2 great grandchildren, Lilly and Tatum Cook; son-in-law, Mike Cook of Amarillo and sister-in-law, Mae Crum of Weatherford and many nieces and nephews.
