James A. Penna

James A. Penna, 71, of Amarillo passed away Friday, July 20, 2018. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at St Martin Church. 1507 North Adams Street. James was born January 12, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey to Joseph and Anna Penna. He was proud to be veteran of the United States Army and honorably serve his country in The Vietnam War. James retired from The United States Postal after 33 years of service as a mail carrier. He was known for his singing and whistling while he worked and during his day to day activities. James was a PROUD Italian with a huge personality and an infectious voice. He was the family jokester and was known to tell his "dad jokes". James enjoyed cooking, watching movies on NETFLIX and spending time with family. Family was the most important thing to James and he especially loved taking his kids and grandkids to dinner and a movie. He will be remembered as a loving father, uncle and grandpa. James will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. James was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Thomas Penna, Joseph Penna, Anthony Penna and Alfonze Policastro. He is survived by a son; Thomas Penna of Amarillo; daughters, Angelina Penna-Noel and husband Ashton of Sanford, North Carolina and Anastasia Shenefelt and husband Cameron of Amarillo; grandchildren, Izsobella Shenefelt and Gaius Dylan Penna. In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial donation to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or your favorite charity.
