James "Lane" Philley

James "Lane" Philley, 54, of Canyon, died Saturday, May 26, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm Friday at Hillside Christian Church, South Campus, 6901 S. Bell with Pastor Michael Erwin of First Baptist Church of San Jon, New Mexico officiating. Lane was born March 21, 1964 in Amarillo to Jim and Betty Philley. He graduated from San Jon High School, and earned his associate degree in electrical engineering from Amarillo College. Lane was baptized as a young man at First Baptist Church of San Jon, NM. He married Sandra Brown in 2005 in Amarillo. He worked at Ranco Communications, Omega Electronics, KFDA, and retired from KVII as Chief Engineer. After retirement, Lane worked at Hobby Time. Lane was a loving son, husband, doting father, and "Papa". In his spare time, he was a fish enthusiast. He enjoyed remote control helicopters, drones, cars, etc. Lane and Sandra attended Hillside Christian Church in Canyon. Lane was preceded in death by his father, Jim Philley. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Philley of Canyon; three daughters, Alisha Corbet and husband Danny of Amarillo, Jennifer Philley of Amarillo, and Samantha Philley of Canyon; his mother, Betty Philley of San Jon, NM; two brothers, Kent Philley and wife Jannie of Amarillo, and Slade Philley and wife Dayna of San Jon, NM; two grandsons, Jaxon and Eli Corbet; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org.
