He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Lundgren.

Jim was born February 2, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to Oscar and Lillian Lundgren. He grew up in Denver and graduated high school there. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Jim worked for General Electric Medical Systems for many years. Following GE, he spent the rest of his career working for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) as a test engineer. Some of the incredible projects he worked on are the Small ICBM System, the Peacekeeper Weapons System, the Peacekeeper/Minuteman Deployed System, and the Transfer Optical Processing System. He was also working on the jet pack used by the astronauts in space. He loved his work and the challenges that it brought him. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was a fly fisherman and tied his own flies. He bred English Springer Spaniels for hunting for several years and showed his daughters his love of dogs. He enjoyed painting landscapes, even framing them as gifts for his family. He loved to read, devouring thousands of books over the years; he especially loved old western novels and crime dramas. He read so many books that in his senior years was turned down for a job as a census taker because he wore the fingerprints off some of his fingers and couldn’t get fingerprinted for the job. Jim could sew and fix just about anything mechanical. He was very interested in cars, having rebuilt an MG many years ago. He also had a pilot’s license and even built a canoe back in the day. He loved going to Puerto Villarta with his brother and sister-in-law and learned to scuba dive.

Although Jim was more introverted and didn’t much like being around crowds of people, he was a very generous and giving person. He accepted Christ as his Savior as a boy and continued his faith in Jesus throughout his life. He attended church with his daughters at Trinity Baptist Church and Trinity Fellowship. He will be missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Sky West Assisted Living in Canyon for the excellent care that Jim received during his time there. The staff members remember him for the big smile that he shared with them each day.
