James D Shelton

James was born on May 19, 1935 in Childress to John and Elvin Shelton. He was raised in Childress, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He then moved to Amarillo, where he married Carolyn Nelson in 1960. James worked in insurance sales here in Amarillo for over 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf. He was a devoted husband, father and papa to his family. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Shelton; 3 daughters, Lisa Vernon and husband John, Leah Priolo and Leslie Freeman and husband Dudley, all of Amarillo; 6 grandchildren, Bo, Annie, Lainie, Lisa, Ben and Shelton; 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Caroline; nieces, Cindy, Lydia, Vickie and Wanda and his nephew John. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Henry, Al and Tommy Shelton; 2 sisters, Catherine Stamps and Lena May and his grandson, Luke Priolo.
