Janiece (Blandford) Key

Janiece Blandford Key, 78, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Trinity Fellowship Church Chapel, 5000 Hollywood Rd., with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson officiating.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Janiece was born March 3, 1945 in Shamrock, Texas to Lawrence and Zoella Blandford. She found her career as a hairdresser early in life, and worked from home for 17 years, while raising her children with her first husband Norman Cox. Janiece loved children and dedicated her life to the betterment of children’s lives. She was very involved with the children’s ministry at Trinity Fellowship Church. She married Jim Key on August 1, 1981, and together, they fostered and adopted three more children. They opened their home to many children over the years. In her spare time, Janiece enjoyed painting and doing crafts.

She was precede in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Key; two brothers, Sam Blandford and Paul Blandford; her granddaughter, Katie Cox; and the father of her children, Norman Cox.

Survivors include three daughters, Denese Pruitt and husband John, Paula Ehrlichman and husband Scott and Caylee Key; three sons, Michael Cox and wife Anji, Christopher Key and wife Shawnee and Coby Key; ten grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the dedicated staff of the Brenda Christy Care Home, especially Phyllis, Lilly and Sharon for their loving care of Janiece during her illness. They would also like to thank BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their exceptional care.
