Jean Louise Benge

Jean Louise Benge, 75, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Jean was born on February 1, 1943 in Monroe, Michigan to Howard and Marian Mitz. Jean hobbies included crocheting, working in her garden and baking. She enjoyed taking her baking goods to the fair to be judged. Jean encouraged her grandchildren to bake and even made them cook books. She was a Girls Scout Leader for many years. Jean loved her dogs, Haddie Mae and Sierra. Jean will be remembered as a loving mom, sister, aunt and Nana. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Orin Murphy; second husband, Clete Benge; and brother, Dale Mitz. She is survived by sons, James Murphy (Cherry) and John Murphy (Robin); daughters, Laurie Krauss (David) and Sharie Murphy; brothers, Carl Mitz (Tami) and Raye Mitz (Susan); sister, Sara Stevens; numerous nieces and nephews; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and special friend, Betty Tenorio.
