Jean Chick

Jean Chick, 92, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 23, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Mike Martin of South Georgia Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 PM Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Jean was born October 20, 1928 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Henry and Gladys Brewer. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Kenneth Chick in 1947 in Amarillo. Kenneth and Jean owned and operated White’s Auto for 20 years in Memphis, Texas where they raised their family. They moved to Amarillo in 1981. Jean worked for BSA in the human resources department, retiring in 1998. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing and sang with a group in Amarillo, and also at the Amarillo Senior Citizens. Jean loved watching and feeding the birds, and going to garage sales. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Chick; and a grandson, Garland Lucas.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Riley and husband Mike of Amarillo;  a son, Stephen Chick and wife Angel of Abilene; six grandchildren, Heather Pitchford of Amarillo, Shannon Gilbert and husband James of Paducah, Ashley Jeane and husband Jed of Amarillo, Eric Chick and wife Chrissy of Abilene, Robert Miller and wife Diane of Naperville, IL, and Gaylon Lucas and wife Virginia of Keyesport, IL; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jarred Daniel, Tessa Moore, Jessica Moore, Ashton Gilbert, Abby Gilbert, Averi Gilbert, Kenneth Diller, Chassie Diller, Addison Williams, Shelbi Chick, Shauni Chick, and Corbin Miller.
