Jean was born on August 30, 1925 in Clemscott, OK to Charles and Estella Herrell. She was raised in Oklahoma, where she graduated from Fox High School. In 1943, Jean moved with her mother to Oklahoma City where they both worked for McDonald Douglas Aircraft Company. At War end she married Clarence A. Scott on June 16, 1946 in Duncan, OK. Together, they moved to Pampa. She was first employed by the Sidwell Companies, and Beacon Supply. Jean was elected County Treasurer, serving 30 years in that position. Clarence preceded Jean in death on November 28, 1993.
Clarence and Jean were devoted members of First Baptist Church and volunteered in many ways in their community. Jean was a member of Altrusa, the County Treasurers Association, the Sunshine Group, and First Baptist WMU along with many other organizations serving her community. In her free time, she enjoyed playing games with the ladies in her Amarillo cul-de-sac and spending time with her family. Her family and friends will always remember her sharp and professional demeanor, sense of humor, as well as her loving and compassionate spirit.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Scott and wife Tonya of Amarillo, and Steven Scott and wife Joy of Centennial, CO; 3 grandsons, Clay Scott of Lubbock, Cody Scott of Denver, CO and Tyler Scott of Fort Collins, CO; sister-in-law, Pat Herrell of Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Scott; brothers, Ben and J.W. Herrell; sister, Betty Wood and grandson, Connor Scott.
